Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device or assistive technology they browse with. This page says what standard we aim for, what we have done, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us about a problem.
The standard we aim for
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We are a small team and we check our own work. No independent audit has been done yet.
What we have done
- Every page starts with a "Skip to content" link and marks out its navigation, main content and footer as landmarks.
- Every page has one main heading, and the headings below it follow in order.
- Every link and control shows a visible focus outline when you reach it with the keyboard.
- On narrow screens, the menu button tells screen readers whether the menu is open. Opening it moves focus to the first link, and the Escape key closes it and returns focus to the button.
- Page text meets the WCAG AA contrast minimum of 4.5:1. We checked each text color in the site's palette against the backgrounds it is used on.
- If your system is set to reduce motion, the animated demos, terminals and 3D scenes show a still frame, scroll effects are off, and hover lifts and transitions are turned off.
- Decorative animations and 3D scenes are hidden from screen readers, and the main animation on each product page has a text description.
- Images have text alternatives, or an empty one when they are only decoration.
- Every field in the contact form has a visible label tied to it, and optional fields say so in the label.
- Each page declares its language, so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
Known limitations
- The animated demos, terminal animations and screenshot slideshows play on their own and have no pause button. They pause when scrolled out of view, and they stop if your system is set to reduce motion.
- The screenshot slideshows are described in summary, not image by image.
- Some small labels in our monospace style are set at 11 or 12 pixels. Browser zoom enlarges them.
- Some text inside the animations is smaller than that, or dimmed below the contrast minimum. The animations are decorative, and the main one on each product page is described in text.
- On narrow screens the menu button needs JavaScript. Without it, the footer links still reach most pages.
- Links that leave this site, such as GitHub and the live demo, go to pages this statement doesn't cover.
Tell us what is in your way
If anything on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, email info@nocktechnologies.io. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and any assistive technology you use. A person reads every message and will reply. If you need something on this site in another format, ask and we will send it to you.
How we checked
For this statement we ran automated checks on every page for heading order, text alternatives, form labels and the contrast of the site's colors, and we reviewed the code behind the menu and the animations. We will update this page when the site changes.
